The seminar "Web 3.0, Character and Game Design" was held with a presentation by Research Assistant İrem Dölen.

The seminar titled “Web 3.0, Game Ecosystems, and Character Design,” organized by the Center for International Communication and Media Research, was held on April 30, 2025, at YAMEDLAB of the Turkish-German University. The event featured presentations by İrem Dölen, Research Assistant from the Department of Culture and Communication Sciences, and game developer Aşkın Bora Yılmaz, and was attended by Dr. Büşra Fadim Sarıkaya, Dr. Research Assistant İpek Kesici, Dr. Başak Kaptan Şiray (ÜAK), Dr. Dilara Tekrin, and students.

Our faculty member Dr. Detlev Quintern's article was published in the Passauer Neue Presse newspaper.

The article Friedliches Miteinander der Kulturen, based on the presentation given by our faculty member Dr. Detlev Quintern at the University of Passau, was published in the newspaper Passauer Neue Presse on April 12.

Our faculty member, Assoc. Prof. Başak Kaptan Şiray, presented her exhibition "Uncountable Things" to visitors between March 15 and April 4.

From March 15, 2025 to April 4, 2025, Arkitekt will host the exhibition Uncountable Things, bringing together works from three different periods of Başak Kaptan's oeuvre.

Our Undergraduate Student's Success in the TÜBİTAK 2209-A Supported Project.

The research project titled 'Use of Propaganda during the Napoléon Bonaparte Era,' conducted by Ali Yavuz Öztürk, a student of Culture and Communication Sciences, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Posos Devrani, has been selected for support within the scope of the '2209-A Research Projects Support Program for University Students' under the TÜBİTAK Science Human Support Programs Presidency (BİDEB) for the 2024/1 period.

The first meeting of the TALKİ (Turkish-German University Culture and Communication) Student Magazine took place on March 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Department’s Design Laboratory.

The Culture and Communication Studies student meeting took place on January 7, 2025, at the Creative Media Laboratory. Organized by İlayda Nur Karacan, Ahmet Yusuf Yenituran, and Onur Dermenci, the meeting featured department faculty and researchers who provided students with information about the department. An online session was held on January 10 for students who could not attend. During the online meeting, alumni Su Efsane Akpınar, Ebru Duman, Kuban Başoğlu, and Mehmet Barkın Utku shared their experiences regarding career paths and academic journeys.

Faculty member Dr. Büşra Fadim Sarıkaya Tünalp has published a chapter in a German-language book

Our faculty member from the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences, Dr. Büşra Fadim Sarıkaya Tünalp, has contributed a work titled “Muslim Influencers – An Overview of the Role of Muslim Female Influencers Based on Their Online Presence During Ramadan 2023” in the book “Herausforderung Digitalisierung – Islamische Theologie im digitalen Zeitalter,” published by the German publisher De Gruyter.

Res. Assist. Melih Pehlivan received the Special Prize for the Best Thesis of the Faculty of Humanities and Cultural Studies at the University of Passau

Melih Pehlivan, graduate of the double degree program Intercultural Management-International Cultural and Business Studies at the Turkish-German University and the University of Passau, and research assistant at the Department of Cultural and Communication Studies, was awarded the special prize of the Sparkasse Passau for the best thesis at the Academic Celebration of the Faculty of Humanities and Cultural Studies of the University of Passau on February 9, 2024 for his thesis Eine junge Universität in Istanbul - Auswirkungen der Türkisch-Deutschen Universität auf ihr Umfeld und die Integration dieser in die urbane Gesellschaft (A Young University in Istanbul - The Impact of the Turkish-German University on its Environment and its Integration into Urban Society).

The Symposium on 60 Years of Turkish Presence in Germany

Because it was the 60th anniversary of the Turkey-Germany Bilateral Labour Agreement, which was the first step in the formation of the Turkish community in Germany and which was signed on 30 October 1961, the Symposium on 60 Years of Turkish Presence in Germany, organized by Turkish-German University (TGU) and the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), was held on 31 January-1 February 2022. 

Interdisciplinary Workshop in Heidelberg

Turkish-German University Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences and Heidelberg University came together in Heidelberg to organize a workshop and carry out more interdisciplinary projects.

Research Results on Digital Classes Published

The research topic "Digital Classes in Times of Pandemic" was conducted with the participation of researchers from different disciplines. Dr. Ayşe Elif Posos Devrani and research assistants Adalet Duman and İpek Kesici started the research in March. The data collection phase was then conducted in May and June.

Best Book Design Award to the Research Associate of the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences

The best book design award at the 38th Graphic Designers Association(GMK) design exhibition this year went to research assistant Sefa Pala, of TDU's Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences.
