A meeting on “Accessible University” was held at our university.

The meeting titled “Accessible University” was held on 18 February 2026 at the Conference
Hall of the School of Foreign Languages, organized by the University’s Disabled Student
Unit.
Representing our Department, Dean of the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences Prof. Dr.
Aysel Uzuntaş and Faculty Representative of the Disabled Student Unit for the Faculty of
Cultural and Social Sciences Assoc. Prof. Dr. (ÜAK) Asst. Prof. Başak Kaptan Şiray
attended the meeting. Within the scope of the program, policies on accessibility and
inclusivity in higher education were discussed, and institutional practices supporting the
active participation of students with disabilities in academic and social life were evaluated.
As part of the event, proposals aimed at ensuring the sustainability of accessibility initiatives
were shared, additionally, the departmental floor plan pilot project prepared under the
leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Başak Kaptan Şiray was presented. The meeting concluded
with an emphasis on cooperation and awareness to further strengthen the institutional vision
of an accessible university.
