“Digital Media Workshop” Held in Cooperation with the Department of Culture and Communication Sciences

The “Digital Media Workshop,” organized in cooperation between the International
Communication and Media Research Application and Research Center (UİMA)
operating under Turkish-German University and the Department of Culture and
Communication Sciences, was held on 12 March 2026 at the Creative Media
Laboratory (YAMEDLAB). The event was attended by Assoc. Prof. (ÜAK) Dr. Büşra
Fadim Sarıkaya Tünalp, Assoc. Prof. (ÜAK) Dr. Başak Kaptan Şiray, Dr. Dilara
Tekrin, Res. Asst. Dr. İpek Kesici, Res. Asst. Ayşenur Özkan Işık, Res. Asst. İrem
Dölen, and students of the department.
The speaker of the workshop, journalist and writer Cuma Obuz, shared his
experiences with participants regarding digital media production, content
development processes, and the transformation of journalism within the
contemporary media ecosystem. The event consisted of two sessions. The first part
addressed journalism ethics, disinformation, and verification processes through case
analyses.
The second session focused on journalism in the algorithmic age, discussing the
impact of digital platforms on news production and distribution as well as the
structural transformations that journalism faces within the new media environment.
