A Double Major Program Has Been Established Between the Departments of Cultural and Communication Sciences and Sociology

By the decision of the Senate of the Turkish-German University dated 05 March 2026 and numbered 2026/29, it has been decided to establish a reciprocal Double Major Program between the Department of Cultural and Communication Sciences and the Department of Sociology within the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences.

The proposal to establish the program was prepared in accordance with the decision of the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences dated 23 February 2026. It was subsequently approved by the Education Commission with its decision dated 04 March 2026 and numbered 2026-03-01, submitted to the University Senate, and accepted by the Senate.

Within the scope of the newly established Double Major Program, starting from the Fall Semester of the 2026–2027 Academic Year, students enrolled in the undergraduate programs of Cultural and Communication Sciences and Sociology will have the opportunity to pursue courses in both programs and obtain a double diploma, provided that they meet the required conditions.

In the first implementation period of the program, a quota of 11 students for the Department of Cultural and Communication Sciences and 10 students for the Department of Sociology has been allocated for the Fall Semester of the 2026–2027 Academic Year.

Through this program, it is aimed that students gain an interdisciplinary perspective, evaluate research on culture, communication, and society in a comprehensive manner, and further develop their academic competencies in different fields.
