Presentation Titled “Exhibition Practices Between Remembering and Forgetting” Held within the Scope of “Media, Communication and Art Talks 4”

The fourth event of the “Media, Communication and Art Talks” series, organized by
the Department of Culture and Communication Sciences under the coordination of
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Başak Kaptan Şiray, was held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at
13:00 in Room D201, D Block.
As part of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar Karababa Demircan, a faculty member of
the Department of Sociology at Topkapı University, delivered a presentation titled
“Exhibition Practices Between Remembering and Forgetting.” The presentation
addressed the functions of exhibition practices in the context of collective memory,
processes of forgetting, and cultural representation.
Within the scope of the program, current discussions at the intersection of art,
communication, and sociology were evaluated, and both theoretical and practice-
oriented perspectives on the role of exhibition practices in the production of social
memory were shared. The event concluded following an academic discussion
enriched by participants’ contributions.
