Research Colloquium Held at the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences

The Research Colloquium organized by the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences at the Turkish-German University took place on 4 March 2026 with the participation of faculty members and research assistants. The Department of Culture and Communication Sciences also actively participated in the meeting.

At the beginning of the session, recent developments and ongoing academic activities within the faculty were presented. In particular, it was emphasized that the Department of Culture and Communication Sciences has successfully received FEDEK accreditation, which was highlighted as an important achievement. Participants were also informed about the planned Master’s programme in Cultural Studies and ongoing international academic collaborations.

During the academic part of the colloquium, Dr. Ayça Yılmaz from the Department of Sociology presented her research project titled “The Search for Subjectivity among Highly Educated Mothers in Turkey.” The presentation introduced preliminary findings on the experiences of highly educated women and the relationship between motherhood and academic as well as professional life trajectories. The presentation was followed by an academic discussion.

The colloquium concluded with an exchange of ideas on strengthening research activities and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration within the faculty.
