Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Posos Devrani conducted the UNICEF–Netflix Digital Media Literacy Trainings.

10.02.2026

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Posos Devrani, a faculty member of the Department of Culture and Communication Sciences at the Turkish-German University, served as the academic coordinator of the digital media literacy trainings conducted within the scope of the second phase of the UNICEF–Netflix partnership, and personally delivered all trainings held in Ankara, Gaziantep, and Istanbul.
The UNICEF–Netflix collaboration was expanded nationwide to further invest in young people’s skills and well-being, drawing inspiration from the Youth Space initiative established in Nurdağı, Gaziantep, in 2023 to support earthquake-affected youth in rebuilding peer connections and strengthening emotional resilience. Within this framework, UNICEF and Netflix, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Habitat Association, organized comprehensive digital media literacy trainings in Ankara, Gaziantep, and Istanbul during 2025–2026. More than 100 youth center staff members and youth volunteers participated in these trainings.
The training program focused on key topics such as online safety, combating cyberbullying and disinformation, healthy screen time and digital well-being, digital content creation, and the use of digital media for positive social impact. Participants also shared best practices and developed new approaches for using digital media tools to engage and support young people more effectively throughout the process.
It is anticipated that the youth center staff and youth volunteers who completed the trainings will reach more than 1,000 young people through youth centers affiliated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, equipping them with critical digital skills and media literacy competencies.
